Quarantine Time with Team Mongoose: Justin Posey

With the pandemic changing the landscape of professional sports around the globe, Mongoose team riders are adapting to life without competing at the highest level. While times are challenging, our riders like BMX race pro Justin Posey continue to train and keep a positive mindset. We caught up with Po recently to see what he's been up during the quarantine:

So, what have you been doing with yourself to keep busy at home?

Po: I have been working out, riding my mountain bike, cleaning the house, and really anything else I can think of to stay busy from day to day. Lately things can feel a bit daunting, but for me it's a good time to catch up on a few things and really work on some projects and things around the house I wouldn't normally get to.

What do you miss most about BMX right now?

Po: I miss the opportunities. I miss the opportunity of being able to go out and ride the track, have fun on my bike, train, hang out with friends, and also compete. We sometimes forget how lucky we are to have these opportunities.

What are you looking forward to most when everything returns back to normal?

Po: Schedule and structure. I won't lie, I have been sleeping in a ton ha-ha. I am looking forward to having a plan for each day and checking off all the goals and tasks I need to accomplish each day when everything gets back up and running.

It looks like you’ve been getting on the Mountain bikes more with everything going on. How are the big bikes treating you?

Po: I love it! They are so much fun to ride. Jumps, MTB trials, mountains, rocks, etc. Whatever the terrain, it can handle. I am looking forward to riding mountain bikes more and more in the future!

Any advice for people trying to find something to do to pass the time?

Po: I would say the biggest thing is to take care of yourself. Yes, I still eat junk food during this time, but do your best to work out, eat healthy, and get some good sleep because staying healthy during this time is the most important thing we can do! Also, still try and accomplish tasks and goals so that you feel like you have purpose and are succeeding each and every day!
