BMX Class in Session: Justin Posey Brings Track Modeling to North Carolina
Imagine for a second that you're in elementary school and a pro BMXer visits your school. Not only that, he then takes you to a local BMX racetrack to explain how it operates AND you get to ride it! But that's not all... The next day you team up with some of your classmates to build your own model BMX track! That's pretty much the coolest class project a kid could ever ask for!
The USA BMX Foundation makes this happen, and we got to meet up with Mongoose Pro Justin Posey at Pathways Elementary School in North Carolina to see the track modeling firsthand. Not only is Justin a super-fast BMXer, but he also works with the Foundation traveling to schools and teaching kids about bikes through Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM) curriculum and the importance of living a active, healthy lifestyle.
"It is an awesome opportunity to work with these kids and inspire them to think outside the box.” Says Justin, “It is obviously great to promote the sport of BMX and get students on bikes, but it's even better seeing the creativity of these students displayed in their final projects. I had a student tell me ‘this has been the best week of school EVER’. That's what it's all about."
It was really cool to see the kids working together building a BMX track, and talking about berms and tabletops! Getting more kids around the country excited about BMX is certainly something we can all agree on.
